Dear Students and Families
I hope everyone is well and staying safe. I think we all felt that the address to the nation on Sunday raised a number of concerns and more questions than answers. Since the announcement on Sunday I have been liaising with colleagues in our primaries, all secondary Headteachers, our Governors, Unions and the LA to consider what this will really mean for us in the coming weeks. We are all committed to putting the safety of our school communities first and will work in a consistent manner across our schools in line with Stockport and the other Greater Manchester Authorities.
Despite the lack of clarity and detail two things appear to be required of us in the secondary sector:
- To continue to provide remote learning for all our students for the remainder of the academic year
- To plan some way of supporting Yr 10 with some face to face sessions if possible before the summer break.
The letter in the link below has been prepared by the LA in consultation with schools to clarify that this will need very careful planning with safety driving the planning and informing decision making. Ultimately the decision to bring more students into school in any way will rest with myself and the Governors following comprehensive planning and risk assessments being completed.
As always I will keep you fully informed as more information becomes available to us.
